The Research Heroes programme – supported by Opinium – celebrates individuals who have given consistent service to the sector for which they cannot be recognised with a professional award such as a fellowship.

Launched in 2021, the scheme was initially established to acknowledge the efforts being made by individuals in the industry during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The call for nominations for this year’s programme was issued in mid-April, and nominations will close at 5pm on Tuesday 7th May.

To be considered for Research Heroes, nominees must work in research, insight or analytics, including in support or operations, and have contributed during 2023/24 to make a difference in research, or to support colleagues and co-workers or the community.

Further information on criteria can be found on the MRS website.

This year, the programme will be judged by Gemma Bumpsteed at Unilever, Shazia Ali at Mint Research, Nick Meagher at Cooperative Group, Hayley Ward at Deliveroo, Clare Woodward at BT, Georgie White at Holland & Barratt, and Jane Frost, chief executive at MRS.

Hayley Ward, director of user research and insight, Deliveroo, said: "This is a really important award that celebrates people who go over and beyond for the good of all of us who work in the sector. It is a fantastic way to recognise people who genuinely care about making a positive difference."

To nominate an individual for the 2024 Research Heroes programme, send an email with the name, job title and organisation of the person you are nominating, and a maximum 200-word description of the reason you have chosen them, to info@mrs.org.uk.
