Unser replaces Lucas as NPD retail business head

US— Consumer and retail research firm The NPD Group has named Don Unser as head of its retail business group, replacing Bill Lucas who retires at the end of September.

Unser’s role puts him in charge of recruitment, product and business development efforts for NPD’s panel of retailer partners.

The panel currently consists of more than 750 US stores, through which NPD collects data for its point-of-sale tracking services.

NPD president and chief operating officer Karyn Schoenbart said: “Under the leadership of Bill Lucas, we made important progress in helping our retail partners achieve measurable business results with NPD information. We are pleased to have Don Unser on board to continue this growth.”

Unser joins the firm from Hewlett Packard where he held a variety of positions. Most recently he managed the company’s relationship with all US retail outlets and oversaw sales, finance, marketing and operations of the company’s consumer product portfolio.
