SPSS analyses smiley faces

Data analytics News North America

US— The latest version of SPSS’s Modeler data mining and text analytics software allows users to analyse the emoticons used in consumer-generated online content.

The new software also has enhanced text analytics capabilities, with new taxonomies covering terms used in dozens of industries including life sciences, banking and consumer electronics.

It is able to analyse data from blogs, Twitter, wikis and RSS feeds, and merge findings with companies’ internal data.

SPSS, which is now part of IBM, said it has recently added firms including Navy Federal Credit Union, Rosetta Stone and Money Mailer to its list of clients.
