The acquisition will boost Accenture’s creative capabilities in Ireland and those of Accenture Interactive within Europe.

Once the acquisition - subject to regulatory approval – is completed, Rothco’s 150 staff will join Accenture. Accenture’s experience agency arm, Accenture Interactive, plans to scale Rothco’s creative and brand marketing capabilities internationally, according to the company.

Anatoly Roytman, Accenture Interactive’s Europe, Africa and Latin America lead, said: “Clients are looking to create human-centred brand experiences by connecting every interaction they have with their customers. Bringing Rothco into Accenture Interactive will extend our ability to accomplish this.”

Alastair Blair, country managing director of Accenture in Ireland, described Rothco as a “great fit” for the management consultancy. He added: “Dublin is not only an innovation and technology hub, it is a creative and cultural capital.”

The deal follows Accenture’s February 2017 opening of The Dock, a multi-disciplinary research and incubation unit, and Fjord design studio, in Dublin.

The move is the latest in a series of acquisitions as Accenture seeks to bolster its creative and strategic capabilities as part of a major expansion into marketing services. It recently acquired French digital agency Altima, design and innovation firm Matter, and digital optimisation company Clearhead
