The deal marks Databricks Ventures’ first investment in a UK-based consulting firm. Investment and advisory company Tercera is also providing finance, while Advancing Analytics recently earned investment from Lead Edge Capital.

The Databricks investment deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. Advancing Analytics will “expand its engagement with Databricks across engineering and go-to-market initiatives, focusing on core Databricks products”, the companies said.

Advancing Analytics helps businesses design, modernise and run enterprise data and AI platforms using Databricks.

Terry McCann, Advancing Analytics’ chief executive, said: “Databricks Ventures’ investment is a significant vote of confidence in the platform, the frameworks and the people we’ve spent years building.

“Combined with our recent investment from Lead Edge Capital, this gives us the resources to go even deeper on Databricks’ platform and to keep solving the hard, unglamorous problems that stand between our clients and real AI outcomes.”

Kori O’Brien, senior vice-president of partnerships at Databricks, added: “Advancing Analytics has built a reputation for turning ambitious data and AI strategies into systems that deliver value for clients.

“Deepening our investment in this partnership means more customers can move from data complexity to real data intelligence, faster, and with confidence.”

Advancing Analytics was founded in 2018.

Last May, Databricks invested in LlamaIndex, a platform that allows enterprises to build knowledge agents.
