UK retail bank earned media index launches

UK – Public relations and media monitoring company Vuelio has developed the Banking Comms Index, a weekly ranking comparing the ‘share of voice’ of UK retail banks.

Launched as a benchmarking tool, the index measures earned online media coverage of 21 retail banking brands and challenger banks.

Media coverage used in the measurement includes national news titles and financial trade publications.

Barclays is the top-performing bank in the index at launch, followed by NatWest and HSBC.

Vuelio is part of the Access Intelligence Group, which also includes media network ResponseSource and audience intelligence platform Pulsar.

Oliver Grant, senior consultant and financial services specialist at Vuelio, said: “The Banking Comms Index will, week on week, give a snapshot of how these major retail banks are performing in the press.

“We will also use our proprietary data to regularly analyse the retail banking sector and see how each organisation tackles the big issues, from the pandemic and Brexit to advances in governance.”
