CANADA— Youth research agency The Sound has appointed Barbara Brooks as vice president to lead its newly opened office in Toronto.
She previously worked as director of research and strategy at Youthography. That agency went out of business in June having struggled during the recession, but ahead of the closure Brooks joined research and marketing agency Decode as lead strategist for a two-month stint.
The Sound described her appointment as a “coup” for the company, which was formed in Vancouver in 2007.
Speaking on the launch of the new Toronto office, CEO Ian Pierpoint said: “Over the past three years we’ve quietly become North America’s leading independent youth research agency and we’ve been looking for the right person to launch The Sound in Toronto for some time. We love the city and we’re excited about having a team there.”
The Sound opened a London office in September last year, headed by former MTV researcher Andy Davidson.
