The Brand Union names Beijing MD

CHINA— WPP’s brand strategy, design and research agency The Brand Union has appointed Mauro Marescialli as managing director of its Beijing office with immediate effect.

Marescialli has lived and worked in Beijing since 1995 and was the founder of Standards Group, a Beijing-based boutique design and branding studio, from 2002–2011. Most recently he was a branding consultant for brands including Hilton, Swire Properties, Ikea, Hyundai, GE and Scandinavian Airlines.

In his new role, he will oversee a team of strategists, designers and researchers to help Chinese and international companies develop business strategies for the Far East marketplace. The Brand Union entered China in 1999 as the first global branding agency in the mainland market. The agency’s Shanghai office opened in late 2001 and the Beijing office opened in 2006.

Monica Lee, MD of The Brand Union, China, said, “Mauro’s appointment comes at an opportune time, with our development of a solid client base in Beijing, and the office ready to embark on its next level of growth.”
