UK – Global intelligence platform Streetbees has appointed Sam Lowe as its first chief technology officer as it aims to expand its store of data on human behaviour.

Lowe joins the company from artificial intelligence-led health and medical service Your.MD, where he was CTO and head of AI. He was previously CTO at MatchesFashion.com, and head of customer and operational systems at Hive.

In the newly created role, Lowe will be responsible for Streetbees’ product design, development, data science and engineering.

Users share moments from their daily lives via the chat-style Streetbees app, with the data analysed using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to offer brands insights on consumer behaviour. The app is used by one million people worldwide and customers include Unilever, PepsiCo, Vodafone and L’Oreal.

Lowe will also lead the company’s research and development in NLP, understanding and dialogue, as it looks to develop a knowledge system based on machine learning that will autonomously enquire about and interpret information from the network and draw insights from it.

Tugce Bulut, founder and chief executive of Streetbees, said: “Our mission is to make human data accessible, anywhere in the world. To that end, we are now building a knowledge system of human behaviour, which will in time hold even more information about how we behave than Facebook or Google. Sam’s experience and ability to develop and scale commercially-focused AI platforms will help turn that vision into a reality.”
