Pinterest to offer targeting and conversion features

Data analytics News North America

US — Visual content curation social network Pinterest has announced that it is to offer targeting and conversion features for brands advertising via its ‘Promoted Pins’ service.

According to tech news site Tech Crunch, Pinterest advertisers will be able to add a tracking pixel to their Promoted Pins, as well as to their own website, to understand how well a Pin is doing in terms of clicks and conversions.

Advertisers will also be able to match Promoted Pins to specific user groups to enable targeting based on previous purchases. Pinterest users will be able to opt out of this targeting by updating their account settings.

US news website Business Insider suggests recent news that Pinterest has hired former Google media partnerships manager Robert Macdonald is a sign that, in terms of media coverage and ad dollars, Pinterest is a “sleeping giant” that may be about to wake up.
