US — Pinterest has announced that it has acquired visual search platform VisualGraph.
According to an article on technology news site TechCrunch, The company’s founder Kevin Jing and his partner David Liu joined the Pinterest engineering team this week.
The acquisition means that Pinterest could suggest content, or display relevant ads, to its users by understanding the visual content of their pins.
According to Pinterest, “the acquisition of VisualGraph will help us build technology to better understand what people are pinning. By doing so, we hope to make it easier for people to find the things they love.”
VisualGraph’s statement on the acquisition can be found here.
