US — A photo analytics firm that allows brands to detect their logos in photos shared over social media has raised $2.2m in a second round of funding.

Ditto Labs promises to help companies identify and engage with consumers by finding instances were products and logos can be seen among the billions of photos posted to Facebook, Twitter and other social services each week.

The company said that, given the rapid growth in photo sharing across Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram, image-based marketing and analytics “is becoming critical to consumer products, consumer packaged goods, restaurants, sports, travel and fashion”.

“Our focus is to read the firehose of all public photos to discover how people use and interact with products and brands most important in them.” said CEO David Rose (pictured). “Marketers only relying on text, follows, and likes are literally missing the pictures – which everyone knows are thousand times more valuable.”

Funding came from Cue Ball Capital and Stage 1 Ventures, among several others.
