US – Global analytics and measurement company Nielsen has announced Chicago as the global headquarters for its consumer business.
From 1st January 2021, Nielsen’s global consumer business will use its existing workspace at 200 W Jackson Blvd as its headquarters, with plans afoot to refresh and invest in the building.
Nielsen was founded in Chicago in 1923, and the Chicago office currently houses a team of more than 600 people.
The company plans to hire 50 more staff in Chicago over the next two years. Nielsen is also partnering with local universities, colleges and communities to offer internship and training opportunities.
Last year Nielsen announced plans to split the business in two, with one side of the business focusing on media market metrics, while the other will carry out data and insights work in the consumer-packaged goods and retailer arenas.
David Rawlinson, chief executive of Nielsen’s Global Consumer Business, said: “Nielsen was founded in Chicago, Arthur Nielsen revolutionised consumer measurement and data here, and becoming a separate company is an opportunity to return our headquarters back to our original home.
“Coupled with Chicago’s long-standing reputation for diverse talent, establishing our headquarters here will help us on our journey to define the future of e-commerce measurement and data, and build a world-class culture.”
