US— Datascension has reported a 29.4% decline in revenue in the first quarter of 2009, which it blamed on the economic conditions.
The firm, which provides outsourced services for data collection and processing, said the downturn “has affected the company’s customers resulting in reduced demand”.
Its net revenue was $3.8m, down from $5.3m. However, the firm still managed to achieve its first positive net earnings since going public in 2004, with income of $9,000, up from a net loss of $67,000 in the same period last year. This came thanks to a 35% reduction in costs achieved through reductions in executive salaries and marketing and administrative costs.
Datascension is based in California and has call centre operations in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
