Comscore revenues down in Q3

US – Revenue fell by more than $12m year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026, according to the latest financial results from media measurement company Comscore.

Comscore’s third quarter results showed revenue at $76.2m compared with $88.9m in the same three months of 2025. Of the 2025 Q3 results, $9.5m was accounted for by the company’s recently divested Movies business.

The results meant there was a net loss of $65.5m for the quarter, as opposed to a net income of $500,000 in the same period in 2025, which Comscore said was primarily due to a non-cash goodwill impairment charge of $57.3m and restructuring costs of $5.5m this year.

Core operating expenses, including cost of revenues, sales and marketing, research and development and general and administrative expenses, were $79.6m for the quarter, down 8% on the $86.6m in the same quarter of last year, primarily due to lower employee compensation, data costs and facilities expense.

Comscore said there was therefore an adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) of $5.8m for the third quarter of 2026 compared with £11m in 2025.

However, Comscore reaffirmed its full year outlook for 2026, with revenue expected to range between $315m and $325m.

The company released a return on investment (ROI) strategy earlier this year, with plans to save between $20m and $25m annually from reducing staff numbers.

The figures also follow financial results for the second quarter of 2026 that saw revenue drop by more than $10m, with chief executive Matt McLaughlin, who was appointed earlier this year, deeming the Q2 results to be “not acceptable”.

Matt McLaughlin, chief executive at Comscore, said: “During the third quarter, we announced our transformational ROI strategy, which was designed to realign our business and cost structure, optimise our operations, and invest in higher-potential growth areas. Our team executed against this new operating model with a strong sense of urgency, allowing us to achieve significant cost savings in the quarter.

“We are taking aggressive actions to rationalise our operational footprint and are focused on serving customers in our core business, as well as identifying and capitalising on long-term growth opportunities in the evolving media landscape. I’m proud of the difficult work our team has done to execute against our plan and remain confident that we will exit the year well positioned to transform the business in 2027 and begin investing for long-term growth.”

Mary Margaret Curry, chief financial officer at Comscore, added: “We are in the early innings of executing our ROI strategy, which is rooted in building a foundation for long-term value creation, and we are already seeing signs of progress.

“We remain focused on our transformation efforts as we close out the year, and we are on track to generate the $20m to $25m in annual run-rate cost savings we expected from our realignment plan. We plan to use a portion of these savings to execute our ROI strategy and invest in long-term growth opportunities as we move into 2027.”
