US— Social TV analytics firm Bluefin Labs has appointed Publicis Modem’s global head JP Maheu as its new CEO. He will work alongside co-founder Deb Roy, who will remain as chairman.
Maheu is a digital marketing veteran having served as CEO of Razorfish and chief digital officer of Ogilvy & Mather in recent years. Bluefin Labs have tasked him with helping the company enter its next phase of growth.
He joins the firm as Roy prepares to return to the MIT Media Lab, where he is a tenured faculty member, in January 2013. The hire comes after Bluefin Labs raised $12m in private funding led by Time Warner Investments with participation from SoftBank Capital, Redpoint Ventures and Lerer Ventures in January this year.
Bluefin’s Signals platform analyses social media responses to almost 350,000 individual telecasts to find placements where brand receptivity and engagement is highest.
