UK — Former TNS colleagues Cristina Balanzó and Siemon Scamell-Katz have partnered with Human Mind & Brain founder Rafal Ohme to launch Walnut Group, a consumer neuroscience consultancy and research agency.
Balanzó was previously global head of neuroscience for TNS and before that was a strategic planner for McCann Erickson while Scamell-Katz founded shopper research group ID Magasin, bought by TNS in 2007, after which he became TNS’s global director for retail and shopper research. He remains global consulting director for TNS Retail and Shopper alongside his work with Walnut.
At Walnut the pair will work with Ohme, a professor of psychology, in using neuroscience technology to help brands understand the emotional and subconscious aspects of consumer decision-making and to formulate strategies based on this.
Communications and product testing, in-store marketing, brand identity development and workshops are listed as specialisms on the company’s website.
