GfK wins five new measurement contracts

GERMANY— GfK has been awarded five new media research contracts, in Romania, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.

In Romania, the firm will provide a standardised currency for newspapers and magazines and has been named as the country’s official supplier of radio audience data. The print survey will consist of 13,500 surveys a year for the next three years. Radio measurement also involves 13,500 surveys a year until 2015.

Starting in early 2012 GfK kicks-off a three year contract to measure radio audiences in Ukraine. The firm will survey 47,280 consumers from towns with a population of over 50,000.

In Belarus the firm will work with the country’s association of advertising agencies to provide local TV audience research. The firm said it is preparing the first electronic measurement system in the country to carry out the work.

Lastly, GfK will launch a nine-country survey of the the internet habits of Russian speakers living outside Russia. The study, on behalf of the Mail.ru Group, will track internet habits in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

Gerhard Hausruckinger (pictured), member of the GfK management board with responsibility for media, said: “Central and eastern Europe continues to be a key growth region for GfK, especially the new media markets in these countries.”
