US— Father and son team Barry and Ross Young have formed a new research agency to focus on technologies affecting consumer electrical consumption.
The pair previously founded DisplaySearch, which provides research services to the flat panel display industry, as well as the OLED Association, which marketed organic light-emitting diode (OLED) products. DisplaySearch was sold to the NPD group in 2005.
Young Market Research will initially focus on solar and solid-state lighting and is in the process of building databases to serve these markets. It has also completed its first report, The Monthly Solar Cell Capacity, Shipment and Company Profile Database and Report.
Dan Button, CEO of LED lighting firm QD Vision, said: “Barry and Ross Young have been the most influential and respected analysts in the flat panel industry… Their entry into solar and solid-state lighting will raise the bar for market research in these highly competitive and significant industries.”
