The office will be led by managing director, Amy Emmatty, who previously worked at KRC Research where she was senior vice-president, managing supervisor.

The addition of this office means YouGov now has offices in six locations, the others being Redwood City and San Francisco in California; Cheshire, Connecticut; New York; and Portland, Oregon.

The Washington D.C. office will focus on custom, academic, public affairs and public opinion research, building primarily on YouGov’s capabilities in Redwood City and San Francisco.

Stephan Shakespeare (pictured), YouGov CEO and co-founder, said: "When you combine the growth of our data products business domestically, the high reputation of our custom research team, and the prominent role we are playing in polling voters in advance of the upcoming presidential elections, the timing is right for us to expand our presence in the US, which is our largest market."
