Yazi raises $430k in funding round

Yazi was founded by Timothy Treagus, chief executive, and Mzwandile Sotsaka, chief technology officer, in Cape Town in 2022 and runs a research platform through WhatsApp.
The platform allows users to carry out surveys, qualitative interviews, diary studies and tracker research through WhatsApp, rather than via email, apps or desktop tools.
The funding will help expand Yazi’s research participant panel across African markets and grow the company’s presence in the UK and Europe.
Yazi operates across 15 countries and has access to more than 1.8 million research participants, as well as supporting more than 30 languages.
Sotsaka said that Yazi meets “people where they already are”, and that the company was “reaching populations the industry has historically failed to access”.
