US— VoloMedia, which provides advertising and analytics tools for downloadable media, has launched a free plug-in for iTunes that collects data on what podcasts are being downloaded and played, and lets publishers analyse the results using Google Analytics.
Podcast publishers can make small changes to the coding of their RSS feeds to prompt subscribers to download the plug-in. To encourage people to install it, the tool also offers users the ability to share content with other iTunes users and get recommendations.
VoloMedia said in a blog post: “Until now, there has been one major issue with iTunes for publishers: a lack of metrics providing insight into how their content is being used. VoloMedia’s Bridge-to-Google Analytics solves this.”
