‘Technical difficulties’ puts Google Analytics out for the count

US— Google Analytics is back up and running after a bug yesterday caused web traffic counts to be disrupted “for a few hours”.

The firm said “technical difficulties” were to blame, but didn’t give specifics. Users of the free web analytics service would have seen lower visitor numbers for their sites than usual – with some reporting no visits at all – until the issue was resolved.

In a blog post today, Google Analytics’ Trevor Claiborne said that no data was lost and visitor numbers have now been restored.

At the height of the disruption ‘Google Analytics’ became one of the top trending topics on Twitter.
