Smart Data Foundry launches research fellowship

The Financial Data Service (FINDS) fellowship will provide funding to support research that uses the service’s secure, deidentified financial datasets to explore societal challenges.
It is open to researchers across universities, think tanks, and other eligible research organisations.
The fellowships will offer up to £300,000, with funding split between three or four projects, and applications are now open for submission, with a closing date of 9th December 2025.
FINDS is a collaboration between Smart Data Foundry and the University of Edinburgh, and funding for the fellowship is provided via UKRI’s Smart Data Research UK programme.
Dougie Robb, chief executive, Smart Data Foundry (pictured), said: “This funding will empower researchers to integrate smart financial data into studies tackling key challenges, from productivity and prosperity to health, wellbeing, and sustainability.
“We aim to support three to four innovative projects that not only demonstrate the transformative potential of smart data in research but also generate insights that contribute to real-world impact and improved lives.”
