AUSTRALIA— Media intelligence firm Sentia Media has acquired social media monitoring platform BuzzNumbers, the company’s first acquisition since rebranding from Media Monitors Group in February.
BuzzNumbers offers a real time, localised social media listening platform for communications specialists using a proprietary technology that combines data mining and sentiment analysis.
Sentia Media CEO John Croll said: “This acquisition further strengthens our ability to provide the highest quality and most comprehensive suite of media intelligence services across Australia and beyond. BuzzNumbers’ social media monitoring solution complements our focus on timeliness, coverage, accuracy and insight for communications specialists.”
BuzzNumbers founder Nick Holmes à Court and CEO Andy Gent will work with their existing team within Sentia.
Sentia says the acquisition of BuzzNumbers further strengthens its product and service offering in the social media monitoring and measurement sector, following last year’s acquisition of the Brandtology online business intelligence service.
In 2010, BuzzNumbers launched a tool to track Twitter coverage of Australia’s general election (pictured).
