US— William Charnock has been appointed chief strategy officer at digital advertising agency R/GA, where he will take charge of the firm’s research, planning and strategy teams.
In the newly created role Charnock (pictured) will also work to develop thought leadership across the agency.
He joins R/GA from marketing communications agency JWT New York, where he was director of strategic innovation and co-head of strategic planning.
Before his time at JWT, Charnock held director roles at ad agencies FCB and BBDO in New York. Earlier in his career, Charnock had spells with Ogilvy and IBM.
R/GA’s chief executive officer Bob Greenberg said: “William is uniquely qualified for this role. His experience combines not only traditional and digital insights and planning experience, but he also has extensive expertise in managing large, multi-regional teams and crafting innovative relationships with partners on a global scale.”
