US— Wayin, the Q&A app from Sun Microsystems co-founder Scott McNealy, has closed a series B funding round worth $14m.
That investment adds to the $6m already raised by the firm which has built a website and apps for the iOS and Android mobile platforms that let users upload photos and ask questions of other users. Its Q&A capabilities can also be integrated into a brand’s existing mobile app, on its website through a widget, or as a Facebook app.
Wayin plans to make money by inserting sponsored polls into a user’s stream of questions as well as by making its database of opinion and sentiment available for analysis.
CEO Tom Jessiman said: “Wayin sits at the intersection of media, gaming, social, and surveys.”
Early customers include The Hertz Corporation and the Romney for President campaign.
