UK – Private equity firm Apiary Capital has acquired a ‘significant stake’ in global media advisory business MediaSense.

MediaSense management team: Eva Landuyt, Graham Brown, Nicola Poynter, Andy Pearch, Aparna Potdar, Ryan Kangisser

Founded in 2009, MediaSense offers media management, auditing and agency selection and the company’s analytics practice manages media expenditure on behalf of clients. In July, it received £500,000 funding from the UK government’s innovation agency to expand its digital media auditing platform.

Headquartered in London, the company recently launched operations in the US and India.

The acquisition will support MediaSense’s plans for expansion. The terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Mark Salter, managing partner, Apiary Capital, said: “MediaSense is a great company, well managed, with exceptional talent, large global brands as clients and lots of potential for growth.”

Graham Brown, chief executive and co-founder, MediaSense, said: “Thanks to our great team and loyal clients, we are very proud of what we have achieved over the last 12 years, but we remain ambitious and hungry for further expansion and growth: to achieve our goals, we wanted to find a like-minded partner for the next phase of our development.”

Andy Pearch, chief operating officer and co-founder, MediaSense, added: “Apiary’s investment increases our firepower to acquire new capabilities and resources, which will accelerate and further enhance our offering to clients.”
