Ben Page to leave Ipsos, with Jean Laurent Poitou appointed CEO

FRANCE – Ipsos has appointed Jean Laurent Poitou as chief executive officer, replacing Ben Page, who will step down in September.

The company’s board of directors decided to appoint Poitou as its new chief executive on the morning of Tuesday 19th August.

According to a statement released by the company, its board believes Ipsos is “ideally positioned” to meet the evolving needs of businesses and institutions to obtain timely data, and that by doing so it could “regain a higher growth trajectory than the one it recorded in recent years”.

Page (pictured) has been global chief executive at Ipsos since 2021, when he succeeded the company’s founder Didier Truchot in leading the business.

Prior to that, Page led Ipsos Mori in the UK for 12 years, after starting his career at Mori in the 1980s and becoming managing director of the Ipsos Mori Social Research Institute.

In the statement, Ipsos said the board acknowledged the work undertaken by Page since 2021, but added: “Nevertheless, it has decided to appoint a new CEO, with the objective of giving Ipsos and its teams the momentum needed to adopt and implement a realistic and credible growth plan.”

Poitou, who will become chief executive from 15th September, is currently managing director and head of digital for the Emea region at professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal.

Prior to his current role, Poitou spent 30 years at Accenture, holding management positions in Europe, the United States and Asia.

Ipsos intends to “play an active role” in the industry’s transformation, the company said, adding that this is a “necessity given the challenges faced by businesses and institutions worldwide”.

The company also said: “Ipsos will strengthen its leadership provided it deploys its new capabilities for rapid data production, analysis and reporting without delay.”

Ben Page said: “Having spent 38 years at Ipsos, joining Mori (now Ipsos UK) as a trainee, and later spending many years as CEO of the UK and Ireland business, and since 2021, global CEO of Ipsos, now is a good time to hand over the reins at the age of 60.

“I am so proud of what we have achieved at Ipsos over the last few decades. In very few other businesses would you travel the world, work with presidents and prime ministers, and with some of the world’s largest companies and make lifelong friendships with so many clients and colleagues.”

The company has appointed Poitou with a remit to lead its transformation, at a time when clients are looking to access reliable and trustworthy information in increasingly tighter timeframes.

Jean Laurent Poitou said: “I will draw on my experience in growth and innovation in Europe, Asia-Pacific and worldwide within major professional services firms to accelerate Ipsos’ development. Ipsos’ reputation with its clients, the quality and commitment of its teams, and the existing initiatives leveraging artificial intelligence and technology for competitive advantage are strong foundations on which we can build to transform the company.

“We will build for our clients an increasingly differentiated market and opinion research company, powered by science, technology and artificial intelligence, while remaining true to the values that have made Ipsos’ success.”
