Police seize lab forging Opinion Research Corp payroll cheques
Detectives from the city’s Financial Crimes Unit worked with members of the Northern Nevada Fraud and Identity Task Force to seize the cheque forgery lab on Thursday ( 4 June).
A 31-year-old man was arrested on felony charges of establishing or possessing a financial forgery laboratory, and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. The man, Roberto Alvira III, is suspected of manufacturing at least $10,000 in counterfeit cheques that had been passed at various businesses in Reno and the neighbouring city of Sparks since 14 May.
The lab, in Robinhood Drive, is the fifth to have been shut down by police in the past 30 days.
