UK – The Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards (Jicwebs) has appointed advertising industry veteran Guy Phillipson, former chief executive of IAB UK, as chairman.
Phillipson (pictured) replaces Richard Foan, who announced in September 2018 he would be stepping down from the role.
Serving as chief executive of the IAB from 2005 to 2017, Phillipson then took up the role of chairman of digital media agency iCrossing. He has previously served as a Jicwebs board member and helped to establish the committee’s brand safety, ad verification and anti-fraud programmes.
His appointment as chair follows the hiring of Jules Kendrick as the organisation’s first chief executive in November 2018.
Kendrick said: “Guy is extremely well respected in the digital advertising industry and has played an active part in the Jicwebs journey to this point. I’m looking forward to working with him to help shape the future of our dynamic and fascinating industry.”
Phil Smith, director general of ISBA, said: “We now have the opportunity to build on Jicwebs’ success to date by extending and reinforcing the self-regulatory regime for our industry. Guy is a great addition to the team and will complement Jules Kendrick’s skills and experience, with the full support of the executive board.”
