The latest appointments and promotions in the global market research and consumer insight industry. This week: MMR Research, Simpson Carpenter, Vision Critical, Razor Research, Toluna, Arnold & Bolingbroke, Polaris, Marketing Science, Gleanster, Purdie Pascoe, Synovate and Critical Research.

MMR Research Worldwide (UK) has promoted Mark Sismey to innovation director. He was previously research director.

Simpson Carpenter (UK) has hired Emma Imison as research manager in its healthcare division. She joins from Opinion Leader.

Real-time ad platform AppNexus (US) has hired Ari Paparo as senior vice president of product. He joins from Nielsen where he oversaw online audience measurement and ad effectiveness products.

Visual IQ (US), a marketing intelligence software provider, has named Payman Sadegh as director of research and development, marketing analytics.

Vision Critical (Canada) has appointed Mark Marissen as vice president of business development in Vancouver. He joins from Burrard Communications.

Nunwood senior client consultant Rachel Simmons has joined Razor Research (UK) as a research manager.

Toluna has hired Brett Gumbley as sales director for Australia. He was most recently with Arnold & Bolingbroke.

Arnold & Bolingbroke (Australia), meanwhile, has appointed Stephen Ryan-Gledhill as general manager.

Polaris Marketing Research (US) has appointed Danica Kwon and Erin Chun as analysts.

Customer intelligence solutions firm L2C (US) has hired Keith Krieger as vice president of analytics. He was previously a senior manager for consumer risk modelling at JPMorgan Chase.

Ian Ralph has joined Marketing Sciences (UK) as a board director responsible for business and technology research. He joins from GfK.

Euromonitor International has appointed Hussein Doughan as regional manager for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.

Tech-focused research agency Gleanster (US) has hired Barry Libert and Scott Wilder as research fellows.

Healthcare Research Worldwide (UK) has promoted Gillian Newbold to the board of directors.

Debbie Higham, a former healthcare divisional director at TNS, has joined Purdie Pascoe (UK) as a research director.

Insights consultancy SCB Partners has hired Margaret Frazer as senior research director. She was previously with Ipsos Mori.

Brad Wilson, formerly of Research Now, has joined Vision Critical as business development director for Australia and New Zealand.

Synovate (UK) has appointed Manisha Rajakaruna as associate director in the CPG research team. She was previously a client consultant at TNS.

Critical Research (UK) has promoted Simon Hume to senior research executive.

Paul Bainsfair has been appointed the next director general of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (UK). He is currently chairman of Iris Worldwide.

Alan Long has been appointed general manager of Online1984 (Australia), the social media measurement arm of The Online Circle. He was previously research director for Experian Hitwise Asia Pacific.

Synovate Greater China has appointed Steve Laue as managing director of banking, finance and insurance research. He joins from Nielsen, where he was director of financial services in Hong Kong.
