NPD acquired by private equity company
Hellman & Friedman said that it had made a binding offer and entered into an exclusive agreement to acquire NPD, if conditions were met.
The acquisition will be finalised once NPD’s employee-works council has finished a consultation, with the deal expected to close by the end of 2021.
The agreement will see Tod Johnson, executive chairman at NPD, and Karyn Schoenbart, chief executive at NPD, both retain minority stakes in the company and serve on NPD’s board of directors.
NPD is a data analytics firm founded in 1966 and which has operations in 19 countries across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Schoenbart said: “We expect Hellman & Friedman to continue our tradition of client partnership and innovation with new products, data sources, and next generation platforms.”
Philip Hammarskjold, executive chairman of Hellman & Friedman, said: “Tod and Karyn have led the company to great heights, and we look forward to working closely with them to build on this strong momentum.”
