New director appointed at NatCen’s Policy Research Centre

Mhonda (pictured) has been leading the Policy Research Centre since July 2025, when she was appointed to the role on an interim basis.
Mhonda joined NatCen in 2019 and later became director of work and income at the organisation. Prior to NatCen, she held various roles at Future Thinking.
NatCen’s Policy Research Centre produces research on several policy-focused areas including health, crime and justice, and education.
Michael Davis, chief executive at NatCen, said: “Joy’s appointment as director of the Policy Research Centre (PRC) is thoroughly deserved. Over the past eight months, she has led with skill and purpose, earning the confidence of both the leadership team and our trustees.
“As we advance our PRC offer, we are excited about the social impact and growth this organisation can deliver. I have every confidence that under Joy’s leadership, PRC will go from strength to strength.”
Mhonda said: “At a time of rapid change and complex societal challenges, the need for rigorous, independent evidence has never been greater. I’m excited to lead talented colleagues as we drive the Centre’s next phase of growth, strengthen partnerships across government, charities and beyond.”
