UK – Grocery industry research and training charity IGD has appointed Susan Barratt as its new chief executive, effective from 1 January 2019.
Most recently chief executive of Natures Way Foods, where she led the company for over a decade, Barratt has also been chief executive of Eldridge Pope and held senior roles at Whitbread and Geest. She is a non-executive director at A.G. Barr and Higgidy.
Barratt succeeds Joanne Denney-Finch, who stepped down from the role in September.
Leendert Den Hollander, vice-president and general manager at Coca-Cola European Partners and current president at IGD, said: "Susan’s experience across the food and grocery industry, alongside a strong understanding of IGD and its work, will be robust foundations to build and grow IGD’s important contribution in the years ahead."
Andrew Higginson, chairman of Morrisons and the organisation’s incoming president, added: "Susan brings strong commercial experience spanning the industry and I am sure that her background in managing and developing retailer relationships, coupled with a strong manufacturing and food service background will be a real asset to IGD."
