MRS awards Silver Medal
Natalie Gold, Pieter Cornel, Shi Zhuo, Katie Thornton, Rupert Riddle and Robert McPhedran won the annual award for their paper, ‘Exploring the impact of giving free food samples and loyalty cards on sustainable food choices: A stepped wedge trial in workplace food outlets’.
The authors conducted a trial to investigate the effects of free samples and loyalty cards on sales of plant-based meals.
The study found that the promotions did not increase purchases of the meals, as the researchers did not detect any significant differences in volume of sales during the intervention period compared to the baseline period.
The Market Research Society announced the winner at its Excellence Awards lunch on 5th June.
Also at the Excellence Awards, MRS awarded the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Changemaker of the Year Award to Will Oshiro de Groot, Lego Group. The award is sponsored by Truth Consulting.
Meanwhile, James Nevard won the MRS Sustainability Changemaker of the Year Award, sponsored by Hannelius Recruitment.
- The award-winning paper is published in the September 2024 issue (Volume 66, Issue 5 ) of the IJMR.
