MRBA kicks off fundraising week

UK — Today is the start of the Market Research Benevolent Association’s (MRBA) ‘Helping Researchers in Need’ fundraising week, running from 19th to 23rd October.

With 70 UK market research organisations signed up, the MRBA is hosting a drinks and canapés reception in London and has invited MRBA Week Champions from all 70 participating organisations to meet each other and share their plans for the Week.

The reception is jointly sponsored by QRi Consulting and RP Translate.

The purpose of the fundraising week is to generate more awareness for the MRBA across the industry, especially among younger researchers; and to raise more money to meet the increased amount of money needed to make any kind of difference to those approaching the charity for financial support.

MRBA committee member Sue Robson, who has been spearheading the MRBA Week team said: “We are thrilled to have so many research organisations participating in this major fundraising event for us from across the industry. But besides all of the bake sales, there are going to be plenty of physical challenges too. We hope to raise £10,000 during the event.”

Market Research Society(MRS) staff will be holding a bake sale and a quiz night. John Bizzell, events manager at MRS and a member of the MRBA Week organising committee said: “As well as raising money for a good cause, this is also a great chance to get the team together and remind everyone that we work in a fun, creative sector.”

Any research organisation not signed up, or any individuals who would like to make a one-off-donation to MRBA Week, can do so via Virgin Money Giving at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/displayCharityCampaignPage.action?campaignId=1204&charityId=1009974
