UK – Advertising group WPP is set to announce Mark Read as its new chief executive, replacing Sir Martin Sorrell.
According to a report in the Financial Times, Read will be revealed as the new CEO next week. Read has been at the helm of WPP as co-chief operating officer, alongside Andrew Scott, since Sorrell left in April.
Both he and Scott have been reporting into chairman, Roberto Quarta.
Read had held several leadership positions across WPP including head of strategy and CEO of WPP Digital. In 2015 he was made CEO of Wunderman. Earlier in his career he founded WebRewards which was sold to Bertelsmann in 2001.
The senior reorganisation came about following the sudden departure of Sorrell following an investigation into misconduct allegations.
Sorrell has since launched a new company, S4 Capital, supported by investors. It bought Netherlands-based digital production company MediaMonks in July.
