Magid hires former HBO exec

US – Business strategy and custom research firm Magid has appointed Scott Carlin, formerly of network HBO, as executive vice-president, global media and entertainment.

Carlin was president of HBO Domestic Television until 2009, where he led distribution of programming, selling shows such as The Sopranos. Prior to HBO, he was executive vice-president at Warner Bros and Lorimar Telepictures, and most recently, he has been a strategic advisor to Dave Lougee, chairman and chief executive of Tegna Media.

Carlin’s appointment marks a return to the company as he worked with Magid’s local team after graduating from college. He will be based in Los Angeles.

Kate Morgan, chief product officer and head of the consultancy’s global media and entertainment practice, said: “Content producers and providers are looking for top level guidance on how best to navigate changes and thrive. We are looking forward to offering them the insight and experience brought to us by Scott, who is one of the most accomplished leaders, innovators and strategists in the industry today.”
