CANADA – Data driven marketing and loyalty analytics company Aimia has named David Johnston as its group chief executive, following the retirement of Rupert Duchesne.
Johnston (pictured) joined Aimia in 2010 – following roles at Bass Plc and Pepsico – and led the company’s EMEA business before taking on the role of group chief operating officer in 2013.
He originally stepped in as interim group chief executive in January when Aimia announced Duchesne would be taking a four month leave of absence for treatment of an unspecified medical condition.
Duchesne will also resign his seat on the company’s board of directors.
"As David stepped into the role of group chief executive, he quickly and clearly demonstrated his leadership skills and deep understanding of the business and industry," said Robert Brown, the company’s executive chairman.
"Rupert’s immense contributions to this company as a leader and a colleague will be sorely missed. His ambition for Aimia as a leading Canadian company has shaped its distinctive character."
