NEWS1 June 2018
UK – The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has said it will not be investigating the merger of business intelligence firm Informa and event organiser, UBM.
The two companies welcomed the announcement which completes the regulatory review process in the UK for the deal.
It means that subject to final legal procedures, UBM shares will stop trading on Thursday 14June and the deal will be completed.
The merger will then follow four phases over the next year: discovery & validation, combination, completion, and ambition & creation.
Stephen Carter (pictured), CEO of Informa, said: “We welcome the news which completes the regulatory process in relation to the offer and confirms the Accelerated Integration Plan will commence on 18 June 2018.
“Our programme of combination and creation will take the best aspects of Informa and UBM and create a new business capable of pursuing the full growth opportunities on offer as a leading B2B Information Services Group.”
