UK – Informa Tech, the technology division of B2B information services group Informa, has launched a research company, Omdia, following its merger with IHS Markit’s telecoms, media and technology research brands.
Omdia will combine Informa Tech’s research businesses, including Ovum, Heavy Reading, Tractica and the IHS Markit technology research portfolio, which Informa acquired in an information exchange in August 2019. All will now operate under the Omdia brand name.
The new business will comprise 400 employees and cover 150 technology markets.
Informa Tech offers specialist research, media, events and training to technology businesses and professionals.
Gary Nugent, chief executive at Informa Tech, said: “Omdia underpins Informa Tech’s mission to inspire the technology community to design, build and run a better digital world. Omdia helps enterprises make better technology choices for their business and technology innovators better understand and reach the markets they hope to serve.”
Mike Phillips, Informa Tech’s chief operating officer, will serve as president and managing director of Omdia.
Phillips said: “Omdia analysts work collaboratively to strengthen our insights into each individual domain, and to address sector-wide challenges such as data privacy and sustainability. We are excited about the new benefits and enhanced services we can now bring to our customers.”
