Facebook mobile ad revenue doubles

Financials North America

US — Facebook’s fourth quarter results have revealed that mobile ad revenue accounted for 69% of its total $3.6bn revenue for that quarter.

This figure is up from 53% a year earlier.

According to the company, 1.39bn people use Facebook each month, with 1.1bn doing so via mobile. 526m people access Facebook solely from mobile devices.

During the earnings call to announce the results, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg revealed her belief that there was room to grow mobile ad revenue even further.

“We get 20% of people’s time on mobile phone in the US between Facebook and Instagram,” said Sandberg. “We don’t get close to that in terms of anyone’s marketing spend.”
