EssenceMediacom, which was formed following WPP-owned media agency GroupM combining digital and data business Essence with media agency MediaCom, has promoted Ho (pictured), MediaCom’s head of digital, to the role of managing director at EssenceMediacom.

It has also appointed Lau, head of strategy at MediaCom Hong Kong, as managing partner, Hong Kong.

WPP said the two promotions reflect the new agency’s “breakthrough ambition”.

Ho will be tasked with outlining the roadmap for the new agency in the market and he will report to EssenceMediacom APAC chief executive, Rupert McPetrie, and GroupM Hong Kong chief executive, Alice Chow.

Ho began his working life as a planner before becoming a digital specialist in data, digital technology and performance marketing, working at MediaCom for over 10 years.

With over 10 years of experience at creative and media agencies, Lau will work with Ho to strengthen EssenceMediacom’s data and analytics offering to clients in the area of strategic application.

Ho said: “The leadership team and I are committed to bringing breakthrough thinking and services to our clients with a data and analytics-led approach.”

Chow said: “Silas and Anthony are two of the brightest stars in GroupM. They epitomise how modern agency leadership should be – hungry for new ideas with an eagerness to achieve the impossible with their respective expertise.”
