UK – Consumer confidence in the UK declined to 105.8 in March, the lowest level recorded since December 2023, according to data from YouGov and the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr).

The data, covering March 2026 and therefore tracking attitudes since the beginning of the war in Iran, found that UK confidence had dropped by 2.9 points, the biggest decline for almost a year.

People’s forward-looking perceptions of their household financial situation fell by 9.4 to 85.6, marking the largest monthly drop since August 2022.

The data also found that confidence over on how house prices will develop over the next year fell by 4.9, although that measure is still in positive territory at 129.9.

Employees were less likely to report feeling secure in their roles over the past 30 days, with scores declining from 92.6 to 90.1.

Any score greater than 100 indicates positive sentiment, while a score of less than 100 indicates negative sentiment.

The fieldwork for this release was conducted between 1st-24th March.

The research is based on data collected daily by YouGov, which conducts around 6,000 interviews a month. Respondents answer questions on household finances, property prices, job security and business activity, with the research tracking views on the past 30 days and the coming 12 months.

  • The BRC/Opinium and GfK have also published consumer confidence data this week.
