CHINA— Social media monitoring agency Converseon has struck a deal with Chinese counterpart CIC to add the latter’s web listening and analysis capabilities to its Conversation Miner suite of products.

The US-based firm said that as a result of the deal its blog-watching services would be extended into mainland China while CIC would have access to Converseon’s other multi-language services.

CIC’s social media monitoring products includes tools for monitoring, analysis and engagement.

Converseon founder and CEO Rob Key said: “This announcement is consistent with our strategy of selectively partnering and aligning with key region solutions to create the industry’s most effective global social media listening solution… Given the importance of the Chinese market, and the importance of having in-country experts with a deep understanding of that marketplace, the value of this partnership is clear.”

CIC chairman Sam Flemming added: “China has the biggest, most complex and most unique social media landscape in the world and is transforming business at a speed and in ways which are almost incomparable compared to the West. In order to properly make sense of social media, the sort of localised China expertise and technology that CIC has developed is needed.”
