The two companies’ assets will be combined and managed under the newly created Science and Medicine Group, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
Founded in 1977, IMV has offices in Chicago, Tucson, and San Francisco. The company’s brands include medical imaging media brand Aunt Minnie (pictured) and dental news site DrBicuspid.
Following the acquisition, IMV’s assets will be merged with BioInformatics’ existing divisions, BioInfo Market Research, The Science Advisory Board, Strategic Directions International and Instrument Business Outlook.
Craig Overpeck, chief executive of Science and Medicine Group, said: "Over the next five to 10 years we see a world where instruments and diagnostics – including analytical, imaging, and clinical – will converge to lead a precision medicine revolution.”
He added: "We are putting a stake at the intersection of science, medicine, and technology to help guide companies with information and media products and services for converging markets.”
Broad Oak Capital Partners provided financing to facilitate the transaction, the terms of which were not disclosed.
