Ascential merges data analytics businesses

UK – Information and events company Ascential has merged its e-commerce analytics businesses to form Edge by Ascential, a data, insights and advisory business for brands and retailers.


The service combines promotion analytics firm Brand View, acquired by Ascential last month, with the company’s existing analytics businesses Clavis Insight, One Click Retail and PlanetRetail RNG.

The Cannes Lions and Warc owner aims to provide a ‘complete and accurate retail analytics product’ to clients by bringing its analytics businesses under one brand.

Retail analytics services offered include weekly, daily and real-time digital shelf performance metrics; monitoring of price movements, promotions and availability; price and promotion analytics and benchmarking; and market intelligence. The newly combined business has 400 employees in 10 offices across North America, Europe and Asia. 

Boren Novakovic, formerly chief executive of PlanetRetail RNG, has been named as managing director of the service, while Ascential’s chief operating officer Michael Lisowski will become president.

Lisowski said: "Over the past few years, Ascential has methodically acquired the industry’s best solutions and then invested to take these solutions to the next level. Edge by Ascential is that next level: we are now able to provide our customers, who up until today have had to rely on multiple solutions providers, a complete picture of their online performance."

Novakovic added that the business would give clients "a holistic view of their performance compared to the wider e-commerce market".
