UK – Subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) access fell across the UK in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to data from television viewing measurement body Barb.
Barb found that 19.42 million households – 67.7% of the total – had access to a SVOD service in the final three months of 2022, down 0.6% from the previous quarter.
Netflix saw a 0.7% decrease in subscriptions to 17.15 million homes while Now had a 7.6% drop to 1.88 million households.
Amazon Prime Video had a slight 0.1% increase to 13.12 homes, while Apple TV+ was up 21% to 1.69 million and Disney+ rose 4.3% to 7.28 homes.
Barb also said that Netflix’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, watched by 6.7 million people in the seven days since it launched on 23rd December, was the most watched SVOD show of 2022.
Disney+’s Turning Red ( 3.6 million viewers) and Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ( 3.2 million viewers) also both feature in the top 20.
However, no SVOD title made it into the top 10 most-watched titles across all channels and services in 2022, which was led by the Queen’s funeral service, with 26.5 million viewers.
