US – Market research firm Research America has acquired Segmedica, a behavioural science company focused on healthcare and wellbeing.
Segmedica will continue to focus on pharmaceuticals and biotech, medical devices, nutrition, and other health and wellness industries such as food and beverages and retail as part of the acquisition.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Segmedica’s leadership team will remain in place despite the acquisition.
The acquisition is the 16th deal carried out in the past six years by Research America, which is based in Philadelphia.
Peter Simpson, who is principal at Segmedica alongside Donna Simpson, said: “Merging with Research America will absolutely extend and strengthen our areas of expertise.”
Robert Porter, chief executive of Research America, said: “Their collaborative culture and entrepreneurial spirit are a perfect match with Research America’s, and their expertise in healthcare and wellness market research will synergise well with our existing research capabilities in those areas.”
